STC
The State Transport Corporation (STC) operates a public bus service between Takoradi and other major cities outside the region including Accra, Tema, Cape-Coast, Kumasi and Sefwi wiaeso. Check with the STC for its daily schedule. STC offer a discount for return ticket and ticket can be purchased in advance.
GPRTU
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) operates privately owned bus services between Takoradi and cities within and without the region. Tickets cannot be purchased in advance since there is no set schedule for departures. The buses leaves when it is full, so be prepared to wait up to an hour for departure.
Taxi
The ideal way to get around the metropolis is by taxi. Taxis can be found just about anywhere in the metropolis. Routes around and to the town center are mostly covered by taxis. Hire a taxi.
Tro-Tro
For an adventure, take a trotro to your destination within the metropolis. These 15-20 passanger mini buses are a bit risky, but remain the cheapest form of transportation. Locate the various trotro stations on the map.
Rent a Car
Car rental services are available. Exploring the outlying areas of the western region is easiest with a hired car and driver. Most of the hotels in the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis can make these arrangements for you.
